It's okay to make iterative sequels

There is this philosophy within Nintendo to create something new. Satoru Iwata ran with it, and Miyamoto does as well, but is this really the best policy?

It's okay to make iterative sequels. They take less time and energy to make, and they generally sell better.

I'm not saying Nintendo never makes iterative sequels; look at all the New Super Mario Bros. games and Mario Karts. My point is that, from an outsider's perspective, it seems like iteration is frowned upon from a philosophical standpoint inside Nintendo, although not completely rejected.

It's okay, Nintendo. We won't crucify you for making an iterative sequel. Sometimes they're better. Innovation for the sake of innovation might be worse than an iterative sequel. Although I loved Star Fox Zero, many people would have liked a less-complicated game.
