Bioshock

Bioshock? More like Biosh..! I decided to give this game a second chance and it was okay, but I just don't like it.

First of all, you have to explore the environment to pick up important things like plasmids, tonics, ammo, health and money, to things like potato chips, alcoholic drinks and cigarettes (I know that these drugs restore health and EVE as well). I wouldn't mind if you just had to press the "A" button or whatever, but you have to look at the thing, and then press the "A" button. It's annoying. You spend half the time looking down at the ground instead of the levels. It's just tedious. I hate looting things in a video game, especially a console game. Borderlands, not only being an ugly game, had a tedious loot system that had you pressing the loot button 50 million times and making decisions. "Hmm, is this piece of loot better than that piece of loot?" In PC games, it's better because you can use a mouse, but with console games, it's horrible game-design to have to make so many decisions. Fortunately, Bioshock's looting system is not as bad as Borderlands's, but it still falters.

Like Borderlands, Bioshock is one ugly game as far as art direction goes. Every enemy looks the same, and the art direction in general is that generic "look-at-me-I'm-1950s" look. You know, the whole Earth Angel/diner era. It's not that original anymore and most importantly, it's not appealing.

The controls are so bad. It seems like when you're turning, it takes forever to turn the camera, but when you're firing a gun, it seems like the cursor goes crazy and jerks around all over the place. It is not good.

Pros:
1. Decent graphics

Cons:
1. Tedious looting system
2. Ugly art direction
3. Horrible controls
4. Not scary at all
5. Backtracking/fetch quests
6. Unsynced subtitles
7. Pretentious story
